I Am Successful Despite Youth Group (A Poem)
Religious platitudes ring in my ears as girls and
Boys are required to separate themselves, from each other, from reality.
Unattainable requests of holiness and purity are placed on females so that males are not invited to sin because of your smile or skin.
Good Christian kids don't have addictions.
These are your sisters and brothers in Christ, don't make eye contact,
until you turn eighteen, then you should immediately have a husband, regardless of how long he has aged out of his teenage years.
Good Christian girls want to become mothers.
You are the shining beacon of truth to an ignorant world of falsehoods.
Good Christian boys are on the highest pedestal.
Jesus will love me if I am good enough, if I am pure enough, if I am holy enough, if I am kind enough, if I am happy enough.
Good Christian women are not depressed.
Go into all the world and make disciples of all the nations, unless they have colorful hair or wear crop top shirts.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you live at peace with everyone, unless they don't align with your spiritual agenda.
Good Christian men are always the final word.
